Southern Governor Stress Importance of Security, Communication and Development

His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Southern Governor, emphasised on the progress of the Southern Governorate in the security, social and development fields thanks to the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.

This came during His Highness's participation in a virtual meeting with a number of citizens within “Tarabut” programme, which is held by Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD), in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior. The programme is being carried out as part of “Our Bahrain” national plan to boost national belonging and promote values of citizenship.

HH Shaikh Khalifa affirmed that “security, communication and development” are pillars in the Governorate’s work, with the aim of achieving its strategic development goals and ensure a secure, progressing and sustainable society.

During the meeting, HH the Southern Governor underlined the importance of security as a prerequisite for development, describing it as a top priority for the Southern Governorate, through joint security efforts and cooperation, adding that the Security Committee in the Governorate has launched several security and preventive initiatives, campaigns, programmes and recommendations, which included 24 recommendations in the first half of 2019 and 30 recommendations in 2020, in addition to the purposeful security programmes launched by the Governorate in this aspect.

HH Shaikh Khalifa also stated that the Governorate has launched several communication channels with citizens, including the weekly Majlis, which is considered as a platform to assess citizens’ needs and received 286 recommendations and grievances in 2019. His Highness explained that the Governorate has activated several electronic channels, such as the "Al Janubiya" app, which includes a number of unique initiatives and services, and addressed citizens' needs through 4,253 instant chatting services.

HH the Southern Governor pointed out the importance of cooperation with ministries and government institutions in following up on various development and civilisational projects aimed at meeting citizens’ aspirations.
