His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Southern Governor, held a virtual Majlis during which he met the citizens of East Riffa, Al Buhair and Al Hajiyat areas, with the participation of a number of officials from the Southern Governorate and the Southern Police Directorate.

In the beginning of the meeting, HH Shaikh Khalifa stressed the importance of distant meetings in enhancing communication with the citizens in order to identify their needs and meet their expectations, in line with the directives His Excellency General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior.

Moreover, His Highness reviewed the efforts being exerted by the Southern Governorate to follow up on the implementation of the precautionary measures taken to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), in cooperation and coordination with all security directorates.

In this regard, HH the Southern Governor also highlighted the Southern Governorate’s keenness to carry out disinfection operations, rectify the situation of joint labour accommodations and launch initiatives to limit the spread of the pandemic across the governorate, such the distribution of medical facemasks among citizens and residents.

During the meeting, HH Shaikh Khalifa was informed about the service needs of the three areas, including infrastructure projects, roads' repaving and developing public facilities in order to reflect the civilisational image of the Southern Governorate.

Addressing the attendees, His Highness affirmed that the Southern Governorate has devoted remarkable efforts to strengthen communication with the local community in order to be informed about their remarks on various issues and refer them to the relevant authorities.

The virtual Majlis discussed the needs of the East Riffa, Al Buhair and Al Hajiyat areas, especially regarding the need to address traffic congestion, in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic and security directorates.

The citizens of the three areas expressed their thanks and appreciation to HH the Southern Governor for the constant keenness to communicate with them.

They also praised the His Highness's constant follow up on disinfection and medical masks' distribution campaigns, in cooperation with the Southern Governorate Police Directorate, hailing the efforts being exerted to strengthen the pillars of security.
