Southern Governor Chairs Security Committee Meeting, Discusses Summer Awareness Campaigns

His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Southern Governor, recently chaired a virtual meeting of the Security Committee in the Southern Governorate, in the presence of Deputy Southern Governor Brigadier Isa Thamer Al Dosari, and a number of senior officers and representatives of security bodies.

HH Shaikh Khalifa welcomed the audience, lauding the pioneering role of the Security Committee in taking the precautionary measures in cooperation between the Southern Governorate and the Police Directorate, and in implementation of the directives of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, to promote security and safety across the governorate.

In the meeting, His Highness discussed holding an awareness campaign on the risks of fire during summer, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Civil Defence and the Southern Governorate Police Directorate.

Captain Walid Al Thawadi, Chief of the Civil Defence Centre in Riffa, presented a detailed account on the fire which broke out in a food warehouse in Ma’ameer on June 11.

HH the Southern Governor commended the security readiness of the Civil Defence personnel, their rapid response and distinguished performance in putting out the blaze, which required 40 officers and firefighters and 13 fire brigades to be extinguished, at the same time His Highness pointed out the need to form a joint team to promote safety regulations in warehouses in the Southern Governorate.

Capt. Al Thawadi also  also noted in his briefing to the efforts exerted  in extinguishing a fire that broke out in a family’s home in Buhair area, where the members of the family were rescued.

HH Shaikh Khalifa underlined the need to bolster security monitoring by carrying out all preventive procedures throughout the governorate and exerting more efforts to ensure the security and safety of citizens and residents.

For their part, the attendees praised the role of the Governorate in following up on issues within the framework of community partnership and highlighting the essential role of security.
