Works and Labour Ministries Sign Agreement to Build Isa Town Social Services Complex

Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalifa, Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, has signed an agreement with the Bahraini-Kuwaiti Contractors’ Alliance, which consists of Khalid Al Kharafi and Brothers, Al Sada and Downtown Contracting, to construct the Isa Town Comprehensive Social Services Complex.

The signing ceremony was attended by His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Southern Governor, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour and Social Development, Eng. Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Khayyat, Undersecretary of Works Affairs, Sabah Salim Al Dossary, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, and a number of senior officials.   

On the occasion, HH Shaikh Khalifa expressed pleasure at the signing of the agreement to build the Comprehensive Social Services Complex in Isa Town, which is one of the key development projects that serve the citizens in the Southern Governorate.

His Highness stressed the Southern Governorate’s solid cooperation with the Ministries of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, and Labour and Social Development, through working as a unified team to achieve more progress and prosperity, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, support of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister, and constant follow up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.

For his part, Minister Khalaf stated that the Isa Town Comprehensive Social Services Complex project, has been awarded by the Tender Board with a total cost of BD7,347,994 and comes within the GCC Development Programme (GCC Marshall Plan), funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, and will be completed in 26 months.

The Minister added that the design of the project comes in line with the modern requirements of the Ministry of Labour and Social Development in relation to designing an advanced model of buildings to keep pace with the continuous development in the Kingdom, and to provide a comfortable and entertaining environment for the services and social care sector.

As for Minister Humaidan, he explained that the project is part of a series of development projects aimed at enhancing social protection and improving the living standards of the citizens, in line with the government’s keenness to meet the needs of all social segments.

He further said that the Isa Town Comprehensive Social Services Complex aims to serve male and female citizens with special needs of all age groups, adding that it consists of four main buildings, including an academic and vocational rehabilitation centre, an elderly care house, a community centre and a building for services and administrative facilities.
