The Southern Governorate has organised an awareness exhibition on the disadvantages of smoking at Enma Mall. The initiative comes as part of the awareness campaign launched by HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Southern Governor under the slogan “No Smoking” which began in February and coincided with the World Cancer Day.

“The exhibition comes in line with the directives of HH the Southern Governor to highlight the partnership role in bolstering the awareness and healthy sides in collaboration with the various stakeholders to ensure a more informed society of the disadvantages of smoking,” Mr. Mohammed Hassan Al Faw, Head of the Social Programmes and Society Affairs at the Southern Governorate said.

“The exhibition features a corner focusing on the disadvantages of smoking and its negative impact on youth,” he added. He further explained that the campaign is still on amid the participation of several non-governmental organisations as well as clinics and medical centres located in the Governorate.

It’s worth noting that the exhibition also includes relevant lectures to spread awareness messages as well as preventative programmes which aim to have a smoking-free society. They are conducted in collaboration with several departments at the Ministry of Health and the Minister of Interior as well as the Bahrain Anti-smoking Society.
