As part of the Southern Governorate’s efforts towards combating the spread of the novel coronavirus “Covid-19” pandemic and the constant follow-up of HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Southern Governor, to detect illegal labour camps, the Joint Team, under the leadership of Eng.

Khalid Abdulatif Haji, Director of the Engineering Services and Investment Department at the Governorate, has continued its field visits in collaboration with the Southern Governorate Police, the Municipality of the Southern Region as well as the Electric and Water Authority in order to regulise the situation of those joint labour camps in Isa Town. 

“The Team identified 16 illegal labour camps in Isa Town, and legal action was taken against the violators. We will continue tracking down the unauthorised labour camps and they will be prosecuted,” Eng. Haji said.

He also affirmed the importance of maintaining the social distancing measure in the overcrowded labour camps in collaboration with various competent agencies and parties, underlining the significance of following the measures and regulations in place for group homes.

From their side, the team members praised the contributions of the Southern Governorate towards raising awareness of the precautions to prevent Covid-19 in cooperation and coordination with the security systems in Bahrain.
