On the occasion of the Kingdom’s National Days and the 26th accession of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, the Southern Governor, announced that the Southern Governorate will be launching a series of national events and initiatives to mark the occasion, including distinguished celebrations and heritage programmes across various areas of the Southern Governorate.

HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali underlined the Governorate’s commitment to enhancing communication and encouraging national and community participation in the National Day celebrations. He noted that this includes supporting community partnerships, promoting values of belonging and citizenship, and coordinating with security, governmental and private entities, as well as civil society institutions. He added that these efforts reflect the Governorate’s active approach to working with partners to organise the celebrations, serve the community, and reinforce its national and social role.

HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali noted that a programme has been prepared featuring several events and celebrations across the Southern Governorate. These include national celebrations with the participation of the Southern Governorate majalis, clubs, and youth centres, in addition to mobile national performances and cultural segments, with dedicated areas for children and families. The events will take place in several locations, including: the Riffa Residents Celebration and Ardha, Wednesday, December 10; the Zallaq Residents Ardha, Thursday, December 11; and the Khalifa City Residents Ardha, Sunday, December 14.

A festival titled "Southern National Celebrations" will also be held on Monday, December 15, at Khalifa Grand Park, featuring a range of elements showcasing the cultural heritage and traditional crafts of the residents of the Governorate. The event will also include participation from local entrepreneurs, various cafés, and productive families. In addition, the Southern Governorate will witness celebrations by the Buhair Youth Empowerment Centre at the Al Estiqlal Jogging Park in Riffa, and by Isa Town Club, alongside the Governorate’s sponsorship of the "Where and When" (Wain W’Bkam) event at Bahrain International Circuit from December 25 to January 10, which will feature diverse and engaging programmes.

The Southern Governorate will also launch its sixth annual national radio competition from December 10–16, which has seen wide participation in previous editions. The competition is organised in cooperation with Bahrain Radio, as part of the Governorate’s efforts to revive the rich historical and national heritage it preserves. The daily competition question will be announced through Bahrain Radio and the "Southern" mobile application, available on smart devices. The winner will be selected through an electronic draw via the Governorate’s Instagram account (southerngov_bh). Winners will be honoured on December 20, with valuable prizes awarded.
