His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa, Southern Governor, asserted that the camping season 2019-2020 witnessed vast turnout during the New Year's Holiday.

HH Shaikh Khalifa announced that the season saw an increase of 63 percent in the numbers of campers and visitors during the first weeks of the seasons, adding that the number of people who registered through the "Khayyam" initiative was 2,495 campers in the different parts of the designated camping area, while 1,590 campers registered in the previous season.

HH the Governor praised the security cooperation between the Southern Governorate and all security directorates in the Ministry of Interior, at the same time His Highness noted to the security initiatives and campaigns organised by the Governorate in direct coordination and cooperation with the Ministry, with the aim of achieving a safe camping season and raising awareness among campers and visitors.

Noting to the intensified cooperation between the Governorate and security authorities during the New Year's holiday to ensure the safety of campers and visitors, HH Shaikh Khalifa mentioned that the holiday witnessed a general decline in the number of cases reported.

"At the Southern Governorate, we are working within a one team spirit with several security authorities, including the Southern Governorate Police, the General Directorate of Traffic and the General Directorate of Civil Defence, in addition to several other bodies. We highly appreciate the efforts exerted by these parties during the New Year's holiday, as we have witnessed a safe and secured season with less cases reported by 66 percent in comparison with last year. This is the lowest rate of cases to be ever reported," HH Shaikh Khalifa stated.

His Highness also noted that the Southern Governorate has launched the "Khayyam" initiative with the aim of enhancing direct communication with the campers through a bundle of electronic  services that included direct correspondence (3,791 correspondences), email correspondence, electronic registration and the camping season hotline. HH Shaikh Khalifa added that the initiative comes to facilitate all the procedures and communication with campers.
