In conjunction with World Environment Day, the Southern Governorate, in cooperation with the Supreme Council for the Environment, with the participation of Riffa Views International School and in the presence of a number of the Southern Governorate’s employees, organized the World Environment Day event, which comes this year under the slogan “We only own one land.” This is in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Governor of the Southern Governorate, to pay attention to the cultural and environmental aspects through the implementation of community initiatives and the promotion of environmental culture in society in cooperation with various authorities.
In this regard, Mr. Muhammad Hassan Al-Faw, Director of the Department of Social Programs and Community Affairs in the Southern Governorate, confirmed that this event comes within the keenness of His Highness the Governor of the Southern Governorate to participate in the World Environment Day and to strengthen community partnership, in establishing environmental initiatives undertaken by the governorate in order to raise the level of environmental awareness. among members of society and provide a healthy environment for all.
The event included an awareness lecture presented by the Supreme Council for the Environment aimed at raising awareness of the environmental aspect. A number of Riffa Views International School students also participated in planting a group of seedlings in public facilities, which contribute to the interest in the general environmental appearance in the southern governorate and raise awareness among Citizens and residents of the importance of preserving the environment.
It is worth noting that the Southern Governorate is constantly keen to establish a series of continuous programs and events that coincide with international events throughout the year, in cooperation with many government agencies and civil society institutions in the Southern Governorate
